Time to put down that cheeseburger
“Time to put down that cheeseburger.”

Well, maybe it’s not that bad. I received my cholesterol numbers back yesterday, and it’s not good. They are too high. I do have some things going for me though, I’m only 39, I’m athletic and exercise every day, I’m fit and strong. So I have a high “Good Cholesterol” (HDL) number (66), and it’s supposed to be more than 25% of the total. A good HDL number is over 40. I’m actually just below 25%, however, because my total is 268. My total number is high, being that a total cholesterol under 200 would be way better. My “Bad Cholesterol” (LDL) is 179. It should be under 130, or ideally under 100.

Well, that’s saying something about my old philosophy: “Everything in moderation, except bacon.” Looks like I’m going to have to find something else in which to indulge in excess. I am going to have to change my diet if I want to live a long time. So, what a great time to start in with Isagenix and the cleanse, right?
Tracking the numbers: I’m going to change my diet drastically for the next three months or so, and avoid all the cholesterol-building foods, and see what my body is capable of doing. Doc says that not everyone can control their cholesterol levels with diet. Here’s the plan. Cut down red meat. Fish and Chicken for meats. Cut down or eliminate animal fats like butter fats, cheese, ice cream. Avoid saturated fats like margarine, and any hydrogenated oils. Use olive or canola oil, and then only in moderation. Unfortunately, no bacon.
I’m going to go back and get another blood test in a few months to see how much progress I am able to make.
